Reds’ consultant Casambre, wife arrested in Cavite

MANILA – National Democratic Front of the Philippines’ consultant Rey Claro Casambre and his wife Patricia were arrested by the police and military in Cavite past midnight Friday. 

Casambre has arrest warrants for murder and attempted murder in Davao Oriental, Chief Supt. Amador Corpus, director of the Philippine National Police-Criminal Investigation and Detection Group, said.

Authorities said the couple carried guns with bullets and fragmentation grenade during their time of arrest while on board their vehicle. 

Human rights group Karapatan said Casambre is a peace consultant and the executive director of the Philippine Peace Center. 

Casambre and his wife are now in Camp Crame. 

The PNP-CIDG is preparing additional cases to be filed against the couple.
