MANILA- Malacañang on Friday called for the release of water supply from the Angat Dam to address the water crisis gripping parts of Metro Manila.
Water regulator Metropolitan Waterworks and Sewerage System was tasked by the Palace to demand from water service providers Manila Water, and Maynilad, the release of water from the Bulacan reservoir.
Presidential Spokesperson Salvador Panelo warned that failure to heed the Palace order would warrant a personal scolding from President Rodrigo Duterte.
“Failure to act or comply with this directive, the President will personally go to them and make the responsible officers account for such failure,” he said.
The water supply should be enough for 150 days “in order to supply the affected areas in Metro Manila and deliver, as well as distribute sufficient water to the residents thereof,” said Panelo.
The dam is the main supply source of distributor Manila Water, which has been grappling with a shortage for a week now.
