41 alleged members of drug syndicate surrender in Maguindanao

SULTAN SA BARONGIS, Maguindanao—Forty-one alleged members an illegal-drugs syndicate surrendered to government forces in Barangay Bulod, Sultan Sa Barongis town on Friday.

Seventeen of those who surrendered are alleged drug traffickers while the others are confessed drug users, said Lieutenant Colonel Harold Cabunoc, commanding officer of the 33rd Infantry Battalion.

Cabunoc said the leader of the notorious drug ring revealed that a member of the Bangsamoro Islamic Freedom Fighters (BIFF)named “Kasili” was a main source of illegal narcotics.

The military, meanwhile, expressed hope that the recent surrender of drug traffickers will further weaken the BIFF.
